News Flash - Comic Relief Funding now available

Comic Relief Funding is now available, through the Community Foundation for Surrey, to support local community and voluntary groups across Surrey. The programme will benefit;
1. Sports Projects
Half the Comic Relief funding will go to sports projects that;
• Increase access to sport and exercise for people who face social exclusion and isolation
• Help People Who are experiencing difficulties in their lives
2. Community Projects
Half the Comic Relief funding will go community projects that;
• Increase local services
• Build skills of local people
• Respond to local economic needs
The Comic Relief Fund particularly wishes to support small, locally based groups in areas of disadvantage that are addressing the needs of their communities.
Who can apply: local community groups and voluntary organisations in Surrey
Size of grants: £1,000 - £10,000 (average award £2,300 in Surrey in 2007)
Next deadline for applications: 25th September 2009 Examples of projects funded:
• Cameo (Ashford & Shepperton Branches) - £3,000 for activities for elderly people with dementia.
• Holland Sports Athletics Club - £1,000 to provide athletics equipment for young people, including those with special needs from Moorhouse School.
