Who We Support
Mole Valley
Leatherhead Youth Project
Leatherhead Youth Project (LYP) is a charitable company set up to provide activities and events to support young people in the North Leatherhead area. The charity's flagship project, BFree Youth Café was opened in April 2005 and provides a drop-in environment, free from drugs and alcohol where the young people of the area can meet friends, play pool, the playstation or use one of the computers. Appropriate resources are available on a wide range of issues including drugs, careers and sexual health and staff provide one-to-one support and guidance to young people with difficulties. The charity also runs a number of other projects, including BLAZE, a social action project for boys, aimed at empowering them to care for those around them
LYP works to support positive change in the young people with whom they work whether it's improved focus and behaviour at school or happiness with life at home. 2010 sees the development of a number of exciting new developments for them including the launch of a mentoring scheme specifically targeting those who are not in education, employment or training (NEET). We have supported them with a £10,000 grant from the East Court Fund to enable them to continue to make an impact on young people throughout this area.

Street Processions
Giving school children the opportunity to learn and be inspired by professional artists was one of the objectives of Mole Valley's Arts Alive Festival organisers. They worked in partnership with 'Street Processions' who created lantern workshops where children could learn to design and create their own artwork with the support of artists. We were able to support them with a £4,303 Grassroots Grant, enabling over 150 school children to participate. Everyone involved took part in the lantern procession which formed part of the finale at the Festival celebrations, much enjoyed by the whole community.
