Happy Days Toddler Group
The Happy Days Toddler Group in Esher have a busy and happy group of pre-school children however as their activities have grown, so has the need for funding. We were able to help them with a £3,250 Grassroots Grant towards the costs of their training and equipment. Their grant also enabled them to pilot some music and craft taster sessions which help prepare the older children for school.
Oasis Childcare Centre, Cobham
Oasis believes every child has a right to security, love and a stable environment in which they can develop their full potential. With a grant from the Bexington Fund, Oasis is running parenting courses to support disadvantaged parents and their families. The courses will help to build the parents self-confidence and sense of self-worth, develop positive parenting and coping skills, as well as help with finding their way back to work.
A grant was also awarded from the Bexington Fund last year to enable 15 vulnerable families to have a caravan holiday in Weymouth. The families were referred by social workers and health visitors and the majority were single parent families with children with special needs who would not otherwise have an opportunity for a holiday.
Children and young people from disadvantaged families benefit greatly from a positive change of environment within a supportive framework and the holiday offered them many different positive experiences and an opportunity to improve their relationships.
