All About Us

Welcome!

The Tandridge Community Fund, (TCF) established in October 2008, is a significant and exciting local initiative that creates a charitable fund specifically for the benefit of Tandridge district and its residents.

The TCF has been set-up in partnership with the Community Foundation for Surrey. By working together we aim to offer a fund that enables and encourages local giving so that as a district we can develop a greater capacity to respond to local issues.

The Purpose of the Tandridge Community Fund:

  • Tandridge Community Fund is a fund in perpetuity – the capital is never touched but the interest earned is used to help good causes in the Tandridge District area.
  • The long term objective is to build a capital fund of at least £100,000 that will be available in perpetuity to help make a significant contribution to meeting the charitable needs of our district.
  • It will encourage the efforts of the many existing voluntary groups, by offering a fund that can make grants to help meet local needs. It will not compete with them.

It was initiated by a small group of volunteers who formed a Management Panel. Our Trustees, Bankers and Investors are Community Foundation for Surrey which runs some 25 schemes across Surrey, but this is the only District/Borough wide scheme.

It has received backing from Mrs Sarah Goad, Lord Lieutenant of Surrey; Nick Skellett, recent Chairman of Surrey County Council; Peter Ainsworth, M.P. for East Surrey; District and Parish Councillors; and other prominent persons in the area.

Where does the capital come from?

The easy answer is "everywhere and anywheres". Basically the public; companies; anybody can give to the Fund – legacies; one-off donations; regular payments; you name it, it all helps. If any company or person wanted to make regular contributions – great!! Don't forget – individual donations can be Gift Aided which helps quite significantly.

When do payments commence to charitable groups?

When sufficient capital has been accrued to raise the interest, the Management Panel will consider requests from such groups.

Would this affect commitment to other functions?

Easy answer – NO.

It is important that local groups understand that while initially it would seem that there is yet another body seeking funds from a finite source, we emphasise to the public and businesses that we do not want local groups to lose their local support. What we seek is support in the build up of the capital from which interest will be going to the local groups so that all will benefit in the long term.

We hope that you will feel able to support this great local venture.

What the TCF can offer:

A Management Panel will be able to make grants out of the income from the TCF to support people, projects and activities within our community as long as they meet the Fund criteria.

Grants will fund both existing services or facilities and new initiatives and can contribute to either capital costs such as funding new equipment or supporting ongoing running costs. Each year the TCF Panel, working with the Community Foundation for Surrey will set specific criteria to reflect the current needs of the community
